Marios ArgirosMarios Argiros is a Senior Intermediate Level 2 Iyengar teacher who combines teaching yoga with his work as a classical musician. He came to yoga originally through neck and back problems he had been unable to solve with other therapies and found that Iyengar yoga had a transforming effect on his life and his work as a musician. Marios has studied and practised yoga for many years and completed his teacher training at the Manchester and District Iyengar Yoga Institute. He has studied with many eminent teachers, including the Iyengar family at the Ramamani Memorial Institute in Pune, India.

Monica Bejarano CortesMonica Bejarano Cortes has recently returned to the UK from New Zealand where she had been teaching Yoga for 5 years. She now holds a Junior Intermediate Level 1 certificate. It was in Auckland that she acquired her Iyengar certification. Prior to that she had been living and teaching in Spain. She has taught an extensive variety of people, ages and abilities from the elderly to the athlete community including cyclists, runners and members of the New Zealand national rugby team. Monica has had the opportunity to train with international senior teachers, including Stephanie Quirk (New Zealand), Pixie Lillas (Australia) and Faeq Biria (France). Monica transmits with passion the Iyengar’s teachings as she has learned them from qualified teachers and from her 13 years of personal practice. Monica’s classes are dynamic, enthusiastic, generous and compassionate.

Dominic BattenDominic started yoga on the advice of an osteopath some fifteen years ago. He no longer needs osteopathy. He qualified as an Introductory Level teacher at Manchester in 2001 and is currently qualified at Intermediate Junior Level 3. As well as attending classes with Frances Homewood and Marios Argiros, Dominic has gained from practising with a range of teachers at Yoga conventions in the UK, and at other events in Greece, Portugal and India. He has attended sessions with both Geeta Iyengar and BKS Iyengar.

Lorraine BoneteLorraine first tried yoga when she was pregnant and attended ante natal yoga classes. She discovered Iyengar yoga after the birth of her birth second child on the advice of her ante natal yoga teacher who recommended Frances Homewood's classes, and hasn't looked back. She has attended a weekly class with Frances since. Lorraine also goes to as many workshops with visiting teachers, in Sheffield and further afield, as she can fit around family and work commitments. She was delighted to have the opportunity to train as an Iyengar yoga teacher and now, having recently passed her teaching assessment and is now teaching at Silverdale School on Tuesday evenings. Frances HomewoodFrances has been teaching Iyengar yoga in Sheffield since 1983. Her classes are enjoyed by beginners to intermediate level students and she is known for warmth and humour in her teaching. In 2005 she realised a lifelong dream of opening a dedicated Sheffield Yoga Centre so that people can practice in a calm and fully equipped environment.

Cath MorganAfter starting yoga in Sydney in 1997, Cath was first introduced to Iyengar Yoga by Frances Homewood on her return to the UK in 2003. She then returned to Australia in 2007 where she followed a teacher training programme with renowned senior teacher, Pixie Lillas. Inspired by Pixie’s passion and dedication to this method of yoga, Cath deepened her knowledge through many hours of classes, assisting, workshops and retreats. She also attended the 5 day Australian convention with Geeta Iyengar in 2009. After passing Introductory Level 1 and 2 in Sydney and teaching for a year at the Marrickville Yoga centre in Sydney, Cath again came back to the UK and is now teaching classes around her home in the Hope Valley and continues to attend classes and workshops in Sheffield, Manchester and Buxton. Emma RattenburyEmma has been practicing Iyengar yoga in Sheffield for over 20 years. She has been teaching regular classes at the Sheffield Yoga Centre since she qualified as an Introductory teacher in 2007, and is currently studying for her Junior Intermediate certificate. She is passionate about the benefits of yoga for everyone, and in particular its value in addressing physical, mental and emotional challenges. She has assisted in the therepeutic classes at the Yoga Centre and is setting up new small classes at Wellforce complimentary therapy centre from September. Emma combines her yoga teaching with her organisational development consultancy business.

Carolyn UsherCarolyn began studying yoga when she joined her local gym and quickly found that a yoga class was much more preferable than the treadmill! Iyengar Yoga became an important part of Carolyn’s life and she decided to take the teacher training course so she could pass on the benefits of yoga to others. Carolyn studied to become a teacher with the North East Iyengar Yoga Institute and qualified as a teacher in 2010. Having moved to Sheffield in August 2010, Carolyn has been welcomed into the local yoga community and is delighted to be given the chance of teaching at Sheffield Yoga Centre.

Bridget StrongBridget started yoga as a way of coping with the pressures and demands of a young family and quickly became a convert of Iyengar Yoga. She works in mental health and can see how beneficial yoga can be to our whole wellbeing - both physical and emotional. She also plays the violin and has found that yoga has also helped with posture and avoiding the aches and pains that musicians often suffer from. Yoga has also helped manage and overcome chronic backpain.

Pascale VacherPascale started Iyengar yoga in 1994 and qualified as a Iyengar yoga teacher in November 2007. She now hold an Intermediate Junior Level 2 certificate. She attends weekly classes at the Sheffield Yoga Centre with Frances Homewood and regularly study with Marios Argiros and other Senior teachers. Pascale runs three weekly yoga classes and regular workshops at Silverdale School (Bents Green) and occasionally teaches at the Sheffield Yoga Centre.

Wendy Weller-DaviesWendy has been practising Iyengar yoga since 1992. She qualified to teach in November 2007 and gained her Junior Intermediate Level 1 certificate in 2011. She has studied with many eminent Iyengar yoga teachers including Geetha and BKS Iyengar in Pune in 2004 (Geetha's 60th birthday celebrations), Rajvi Metha, Jawahar, Faek Biria, Marion Kilburn and many others.
